Brad Reid

About Brad
Brad Reid plays fiddle music rooted in the Cape Breton style, while freely exploring other possibilities within the Celtic genre through fresh arrangements and original compositions. With expression and a sound of his own, he reaches audiences in both small pub sessions and large concert halls.

Brad began playing after seeing a concert of the Cape Breton Fiddler's Association at The Gaelic College in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. He learned along side his grandfather (who grew up in the small town of Cheticamp, Cape Breton), and at family gatherings, where his grandparents entertained on fiddle and piano.

In the Brad Reid Band, he is joined on stage by James MacLean, who recently released his self-titled Cape Breton guitar album; by long time member of the Barra MacNeils, Jamie Gatti on double bass; and by former drummer for both the Barra MacNeils and Natalie MacMaster, Tom Roach on percussion.

Brad also has a background in jazz saxophone and works as a woodwind player in musical theatre, doubling on flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, recorder, bagpipes, and more.

String Quartet
The Baroque 'N' Fiddle String Quartet is traditional fiddle music in a classic string quartet.
The ensemble features original arrangements of traditional Celtic violin music, largely from the Scottish Cape Breton
repertoire, with nods to other influences as well.
These days if you see a performance by the quartet, you're most likely to see fiddlin' friends Anthony Rissesco and Carrie Van Slyke chopping away on violin and viola respectively, and founding member Catherine Little on cello.
